Hexagon Lavish® is an antiartificial scientific R&D startup based in Atlanta, Georgia that has an open full-time/permanent position for an experienced Senior Staff Research Scientist IV: Mathematician who will direct an engaging focus in conducting the applied mathematical aspects of the startup and developing the applied mathematical research channels for the startup.

 

The Senior Staff Research Scientist IV: Mathematician will also need to hone skills in encompassing both a re-definition of the way scientific research is performed and assist the Chief Science Officer.

 

Position Overview

 

As our beloved mathematician, you will be held with the responsibility to develop sample designs, perform sample selections and produce estimates for the PIR: Premier Information Retrieval® project as well as perform statistical analyses, interpret and present statistical results and advise staff on statistical matters.

The Senior Staff Research Scientist IV: Mathematician prepare and review technical documentation related to sample design, sample estimates and/or statistical analyses. The Senior Staff Research Scientist IV: Mathematician will also assist the analyst staff in preparing reports that present sample estimates or results of statistical analysis.

 

The Senior Staff Research Scientist IV: Mathematician will work alongside an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and programmers to develop and apply both mathematical and statistical theory, computational techniques, configure and develop algorithms and the latest computer technology to provide usable information to solve scientific, engineering and mathematical problems.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist with development of methodologies for proactive data analysis
  • Assist in the development of protocols used in the proactive analysis process
  • Develop targeting protocols for identifying statistical outliers
  • Create analysis datasets, assesses quality of data analysis programs and develops automated analysis tools when appropriate
  • Perform statistical analyses on data related to the PIR software product development in an R&D environment and run simulation programs and document the results
  • Have the ability to apply abstract algebra in describing biology to the Hexagon Lavish® scientific staff; algebraic geometry in information science to the Scientific Programmers; and cohomology theory to the Computational Physicists
  • Be able to demonstrate experience with univariate and multivariate descriptive and inferential statistical methods
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability of probabilistic/statistical detection of potential allergens using tools such as predictive modeling, development of mathematical models, neural networks, data mining and other analytical methods
  • Analyses are to be performed at all levels of total system product that include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Conduct technical analysis and make informed decisions that optimize performance of large, complex systems
  • Create, modify, and run simulation tools and models to perform detailed technical analysis
  • Review and interpret system performance specifications to ensure simulations and models are accurately evaluating desired performance
  • Resolve usability challenges to enhance product functionality
  • Develop, implement, and validate solutions to image processing problems that deal with large volumes of image data
  • Use statistical theories and techniques, such as mathematical modeling and computational methods to formulate and solve practical problems in the physical, life and social sciences
  • Perform statistical analyses on data related to the PIR software product development in an R&D environment and run simulation programs and document the results
  • Will partner with Biostatisticians and Research Statisticians in establishing standards for data collection, management and/or reporting of data
  • Use computational techniques to analyze relationships and correlations between the varying classes of allergens and variables concerning the human immune system (among other variables) and solve complex problems via model development that will be incorporated into the PIR software

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Contribute to the generation of proposals
  • Experience developing products in a regulated environment
  • Have strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Harbor strong time management, organization and prioritization skills
  • Supervision will be exercised over student interns on a project-by-project basis
  • Contribute technical expertise to symposia, scientific journal articles and technical reports
  • Possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics or Statistics along with a minimum of three years of industry experience
  • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills and practices to mundane duties and responsibilities to work
  • Participate in the verification and validation, regulatory submission and successful launch of a clinical diagnostic product
  • Contribute to technology and product roadmaps by bringing new technical solutions that achieve product requirement targets
  • Manage teams and projects through the company's phase gate process while achieving all key technical and commercial goals
  • The candidate for this position will be an integral member on an interdisciplinary research team relating to applying their skill set to solving societal needs
  • Support product development of integrated systems by working across sub-system design teams to align overlapping design requirements and constraints and drive teams in developing concepts, evaluating risks and making effective and timely design decisions

 

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

  • Be willing to participate in annual conferences, conventions, meetings, etc.
  • Mentor entry-level researchers and programmers in research methodology and scientific software development tools
  • Work closely with the Research Programmers, I.I. Analysts, Research Statisticians and Mathematical Statisticians in Applied Mathematics, General Physics, Computational Physics, Chemical/Electrical/Nuclear Engineering and Statistics

  • Must be comfortable working alongside scientists, engineers, mathematicians and programmers in order to collaborate on completing research project tasks

 

BASE SALARY for this position is conditioned by a "24-schedule" that awards a certain amount per hour.

 

This position is a full-time/permanent position and requires a "24-schedule" that equates to a minimum of forty (40) hours per week
